Addressing the Needs of Students Labeled Deaf and

Session ID:317357 Students who are deaf and low functioning or at-risk are diverse and can be described using a wide range of characteristics. Some of these individuals have multiple disabilities, including blindness, orthopedic disabilities or mental illness. Others, due to poor educational opportunities, low socioeconomic status or perhaps minority status have not obtained the skills required to complete school successfully and transition to college or employment. This conference will provide a wide range of sessions addressing classroom strategies, communication, behavior management, transition to work, and a variety of other topics. There will be opportunities to learn from national and state recognized presenters, to network with others in the fi eld, and to learn about programs serving students and adults who can achieve success if provided with opportunities, services and programs. Session and materials costs are partially funded though state or federal grants.
Time: 8:00 AM until 5:00 PM
